According to Wikipedia, Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to an extent that it may have a negative effect on health.

It is mostly caused by a combination of excessive food intake, lack of physical activity and genital susceptibility and is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, with increasing rates in adults and children.

Obesity puts the patients at a higher risk of getting diseases like diabetes, heart diseases and cancer. It is medically linked to some other diseases like strike, arthritis, infertility, high cholesterol, fatty liver disease and the list keeps rolling on.

Obesity basically depends on the body mass index. The body mass index rates the body based on a person’s weight and height. If the rate increases beyond normal, then a person is at risk of being obese. The normal body mass index is usually meant to not go above 30.

The main cause of obesity is of course eating large quantity of food rich in fats. Wight gain from eating these is one of the leading causes of Obesity.

Other causes include; living a sedentary life which is a lifestyle that involves not moving much, staying in a place for too long without changing or generally an inactive lifestyle. Not having enough sleep is also one of the causes. Genetics also has its own way of contributing to obesity. It is possible to affect how your body processes food and how fat is stored.

Also, at old age, there is always a case of a slower rate of metabolism, which makes it easier to get obese. Pregnant ladies also have chances of gaining excess weight as a result of weight gained during pregnancy and in some cases it becomes difficult to lose the weight. And eventually resulting into obesity.

In some cases, depression can have a way of causing obesity. Some antidepressants improves the risk of gaining weight while some people also tend to turn to food for comfort.

Obesity is curable. It can be done either through medical help or surgical methods. The medical help includes processes where a practitioner will work with the affected person or making certain life changes.

Also, people are given a diet to follow which will help in weight loss. The surgical approach involves using surgical methods to improve weight loss. Afterwards, patients are meant to change their lifestyle so as to have a better response to the treatments.
Exercises and moderate work-outs can also have a positive effect on the nature of a person’s body.

Obesity cases increases day by day and is a responsibility for everyone to make better health choices. It is important to note that making good choices will help in preventing weight gain. Eating nutritious foods and taking exercises and workouts, not the hard ones, can also have affect on the weight loss.
